LAS VEGAS, Nev. — James D. (Jim) Madden, age 78, of Huron and Las Vegas, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2021, at his home in Las Vegas.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huron with burial at St Martins cemetery. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity.
James Madden was born in Mitchell, S.D. on Jan. 10, 1943. He grew up on a farm in Beadle County. James graduated from Huron High School in 1961, and attended Southern State College and Huron College.
He married Barbara Haberly in 1965. He became an optician, and worked in Huron, N.D., and Minn., starting his own optician business in Minn. He returned to S.D. and farmed in 1976.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Eva Davis Madden.
He is survived by his son, Todd of Huron; faithful companion, Caroline McFarlane of Huron; his brother, Bill (Barbara) of Eagan, Minn.; a granddaughter, Sasha; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials preferred for St. Williams Cemetery Association, a big commitment in Jim’s life.
