SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Jeanne L. Jacobson, 88, of Scottsdale, Ariz. and formerly of Huron, passed away June 23, 2017, in Scottsdale, Ariz.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug. 12, at Living Water Lutheran Church in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Jeanne earned a degree in elementary education from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1951. Her brother, who was in the Air Force, introduced her to a staff sergeant from South Dakota named John Jacobson. They were married four months later. Upon returning from John’s tour of duty in Germany, they settled in Huron, where Jeanne taught kindergarten. After raising their five children, Jeanne and John moved to Missouri in 1981, and then Arizona in 1991.
Jeanne radiated sunshine and touched many lives. She was a cherished and devoted wife, a proud and loving mother, a fun-loving grandmother, and a doting great-grandmother. At age 86, her vibrant personality opened an unexpected door when Scottsdale’s Westin Kierland Hotel hired her as a lobby ambassador. She was a Pi Phi in college and a 70-year member of the P.E.O. sisterhood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Jan (Dave) McLinn; siblings, Sally Lamison, and Ralph Pfremmer Jr.
She is survived by her children, Jill (Richard) Wehr of Scottsdale, Ariz., John (Barb) Jacobson, Joni (Lou) Lombardo, both of Chandler, Ariz., and Jayne (Mike) Jansen of Canton, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
