HURON — The Brookings Rangers broke open a tight game with three goals in the final period during a 4-1 victory against the Huron All-Stars on Sunday at Bergman Arena.
The two teams put on a defensive showcase during the first 28 minutes of the game as neither team was able to score.
Brookings broke the deadlock with a goal nearing 12 minutes into the second period by Brenden Way on a pass from Dominic Dobesh.

The Rangers carried a 1-0 advantage into the final period, but Huron was able to even the score with the first goal of the third period. Xavier Erickson scored for the All-Stars on a pass from Carson Duba during a power play.
Brookings would regain its advantage with the first of three goals in the final period just over two minutes later. Austin Lesnar scored, with the assist going to Brandin Heesch.
Cody Niklason and Dobesh capped the scoring with a goal each for the Ranges. Kurt Gutormson and Matthew Chapin assisted on Niklason’s goal, while Gutormson assisted on Dobish’s goal.
Huron goalie Jacob Wehde faced 31 shots and had 27 saves, while his Brookings counterpart faced just 15 shots and recorded 14 saves.
