NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Lewis N. Madson, Jr., 80, of Newport News, Va., passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018.
His funeral service was held Tuesday, October 30, in Newport News, Va.
Lewis was born June 10, 1938, in Huron to Lewis and Genevieve Madson. He served his country through the S.D. National Guard, the U. S. Navy, and retired from the U. S. Army after 21 years.
After retirement, he volunteered for over 20 years with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in the Zoo Archeology Laboratory. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching the Washington Redskins and the Virginia Cavaliers win, and most of all being Papa.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie; five daughters, Carolyn Pinckard, and Linda Owens of Carrollton, Va., Brenda (Ronny) Rider of Morganton, N.C., Janice (Harry) Williams of Newport News, Va., and Vicky (Dan) Carr of Kearneysville, W. Va.; sister-in-law, Sharon Madson; nephew, Eric Madson; and niece, Beth Avrett, all of Grand Junction Colo.; niece, Amy Madson of Boston Mass.; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; aunts and uncle, KO and Tootie Kauth, and Margaret Greschke all of Huron; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike Madson; and great-grandson, Nathaniel Good.
