HURON — Lyle Paul Ness, 72, of Huron, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, February 26, 2018, from pulmonary fibrosis.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m Friday, March 2, at Riverview United Methodist Church in Huron. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. March 1, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
Lyle Paul Ness was born to Neil and Mildred (Fralick) Ness on September 19, 1945 in Gann Valley. Lyle attended school at Gann Valley.
Lyle married Deanne MacNeill from Tulare August 5, 1978. To this marriage, two children were born, Travis and Mandy.
Lyle worked at several places in Huron but spent 27 years with the Huron School system as a custodian, retiring as Head Custodian. He loved the kids and the staff at the school.
He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. He loved to hunt, camp, fish and travel. He loved cooking pork loins for various events and cooking at the Beadle County Sportsman.
He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Deanne; son, Travis (Kristin), their children, Elijah and Issac; daughter, Mandy (Brian), their children, Alexander, Lorelei, Emma and Caroline. His brother, Melvin Ness and sister-in-law Linda Ness; mother-in-law, Alice MacNeill; brothers-in-law, Lynn (Kara) MacNeill, Brian (Kristine) MacNeill; and sisters-in-law, Jeanette (Lyle) Kleinsasser, and Colleen (Dale) Kightlinger; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Odin (Phyllis) Ness, LeRoy Ness, and Einar Ness; sister, Neva Parisien; sister-in-law, LaVonne Ness; father-in-law, Bruce MacNeill; and grandson, Aiden Ness.
