HURON — Marjorie Waits, 92, of Huron, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, at the SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, with Father Michael Schneider officiating at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron. Burial will be in St. Martin’s Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday with a prayer and rosary service to follow at the Welter Funeral Home.
Mary Marjorie Parquet was born on Dec. 17, 1925, to Peter and Mary (Steichen) Parquet in Woonsocket. She graduated from Woonsocket High School.
On Oct., 18, 1947, she married T.C. Waits in Woonsocket.
She was a volunteer with many organizations including; Meals on Wheels, RSVP, Senior Center, and St. Francis Shop. She was a proud member of Catholic Daughters of America for over 50 years and the Huron Area Senior Center.
She is survived by her sons, Richard (Frances) Waits, of Rapid City, Michael Waits, of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Randy (Addie) Waits, of Sioux Falls; daughters, April (Richard) Marshall, of Hitchcock, and Pam (Ken) Freeman, of Black Hawk; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Berniece Schuster, of Anaheim, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, T.C. Waits;, and four brothers.
