WATERTOWN — Maynard Elroy Wieting, 79, of Watertown, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Jenkins Living Center.
A celebration of life will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 23, at New Life Evangelical Free Church in Watertown. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown and prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Watertown.
Maynard was born October 4, 1937, at Onida to George E. and Anna (DeVries) Wieting. He graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1955, attended one year at SDSU School of Agriculture, and served eight years in the National 153rd Engineer Battalion. He was united in marriage to Donna French September 14, 1957. He spent his life farming and dairying.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Dan (Kim) Wieting of Coon Rapids, Minn., Loren (Marsha) Wieting, Daryl (Paula) Wieting, and Darci (Terry) Ganske all of Milbank; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; sibling, Melvin (Kathleen) Wieting of Huron; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth LeBlanc of Mich., and Carol Breeden of Lubbock, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Danel Lyn; one granddaughter, Laurel Lucille Wieting; and six brothers-in-law, Buell, Jim, Robert and Marvin French, Edward LeBlanc and William Breeden.
