HURON — Nathaniel M. Kohlmeyer, 87, of Huron, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, September 29, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church with burial to follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Welter Funeral Home.
Nathaniel Max Kohlmeyer was born May 13, 1931, in Wolsey to Carl F. and Elsie M. (Witthoeft) Kohlmeyer. Nathaniel went to Weeks country school, graduating the eighth grade.
Nathaniel married Corinne L. Friese September 21, 1958, in Huron. To this union, two sons were born, Ricky and Ronald. Nathaniel was a mechanic and worked for Verschoor’s Chevrolet, and Sears and Roebuck. Nathaniel was a brake system specialist for over 30 years. Nate really enjoyed fixing things other than cars. It seemed there was nothing he couldn’t fix.
Nathaniel was a member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wolsey until 1957, when he moved to Huron and became a member at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Nathaniel was a wonderful husband and father. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved a good cup of coffee and visiting with his friends at the Plains Restaurant.
Nathaniel is survived by his wife of 60 years, Corinne of Huron; children, Ricky (Sherri) Kohlmeyer of Huron, and Ronald (Molly) Kohlmeyer of Summerset; one grandson, Daniel Kohlmeyer of Huron; siblings, Max (Phyllis) Kohlmeyer of Wolsey; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Kohlmeyer, and Beverly Kohlmeyer both of Huron.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marcus Kohlmeyer, Leonard Kohlmeyer, and Marcel in infancy; and sisters, Doris Kohlmeyer, and Amanda Noack.
