HURON — The Huron Tigers boys soccer team defeated Brandon Valley 4-2 Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.
The first half ended in a 1-1 tie, with Huron’s goal coming from Ta Hey Lawla Htoo on a header with a corner kick assist from Ronaldo Pineda in the 23rd minute.
The Tigers turned it on from there. “The second half was our best half of the year,” remarked Huron coach Leah Branaugh. “We kept possession and were able to create great looks on our end.”
Eduardo Trujillo scored all three Tigers goals in the second half, with She Sher assisting on one of the three scores.
Brandon Valley (4-4-3) scored its only goal of the second half due to the Tigers putting the ball in their own net.
Alex Bautista drew his coach’s praise as well, with Branaugh called his work in goal “impressive” as Bautista stopped 13 shots on the night to pick up the victory.
The Tigers scored a shutout in the JV game over Brandon Valley, 3-0.
Ta Ha Saw scored a pair of goals, Biat Say scored a goal and had an assist, and Moo Gay pitched in an assist.
Nick Weir made five saves in goal to record the victory for the Tigers JV.
Huron moves to 6-3 on the year with the victory and will face Watertown at Tiger Stadium on Monday.
