CARPENTER — Tillman D. Hofer, 74, of Carpenter, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with his family present from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening.
Tillman Daniel Hofer was born on May 15, 1944, to Joe G. and Maggie (Glanzer) Hofer in Huron. His mother died during his birth.
His father was later married to Sarah A. Tschetter. Several years later, his father passed away and Dave D.M. Tschetter became his step-father. Tillman was raised in the Carpenter area and farmed his entire life.
On June 20, 1964, Tillman married Barbara Williams at Willow Lake. They had two children, David and Teresa.
Tillman enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, hunting and fishing. He loved to talk about his grandchildren.
Tillman is survived by a son, David Hofer of Carpenter; daughter, Teresa and Mike Bemis of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren, Derick and Cherri Hofer, Ashley and Nathan Jessen, Jaime and Sandra Walter, Shelby Bemis and Hunter Bemis; eight great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Kelsey, Westyn and Wyatt Hofer, Logan, Carson and Keegan Jessen and Ronnie Walter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Sarah A. Tschetter; step-father, Dave D.M. Tschetter; and one grandson, Jonathon.
Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the Carpenter United Methodist Church.
