ATHOL — Vincent Matthew Jungwirth, 86, of Athol, passed away Monday, June 5, 2017, peacefully at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 9, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Athol. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m.
Vincent Matthew Jungwirth was born December 2, 1930, in Athol to Louis and Ida (Puettman) Jungwirth. He graduated from Athol High School in 1948, and served in the U.S. Air Force before returning to Athol to farm.
He was united in marriage to Catherine Beranek June 30, 1954.
Farming was always a passion of his, which led to 67 successful years of doing what he loved. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an active member in the Athol community.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; children, Marcia (Larry) Borchardt of Minneapolis, Minn., Michael (Sandy) Jungwirth of Athol, Patti (Glen) Schaeffer of Loveland, Colo., Kristi (Jefferson) Lehman of Elk Point, and Steven (Amy) Jungwirth of Kansas City, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sister, Caroline Kegler; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Marvin and Ray and a sister Hildegard Lambert.
Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
