The National Federation of High School Sports Officials Association named Mark Wendelgass of Huron as the 2016-17 South Dakota Track and Field Official of the Year. He was honored at the State Meet this last Saturday in Sioux Falls. Wendelgass has officiated track and field and cross-country for many years and officiated many state track and cross-country meets. He retired from the Huron Public schools where he spent his entire 35-year career as a teacher, coach, and Activities Director.
