HURON — Saturday marked the annual backpack giveaway as part of BelieveFest at Faith Alive Church in Huron.

Volunteers prepared 1,000 backpacks and saw more than 300 vehicles come through the line, opening early as the line had wrapped around to Frank Ave. and was nearly across 21st St.

Those who came Saturday morning received backpacks for each student up through middle school along with coupons for a free taco that were provided to the church. The distribution tables were moved from the west side of the church to the south side for better traffic management, and it aided in moving two lines of vehicles quickly through in just over an hour.
