HURON — It’s that time of year again. The Beadle County Commission and auditor Jill Hanson worked through the first draft of the provisional budget to close Tuesday morning’s meeting at the Beadle County courthouse.
Further discussion will be held before the provisional budget has to be submitted by July 30.
The meeting begin with the commission talking with Chad Zwieg, foreman of the Highway Department. He presented a pay request for the ongoing work on a bridge structure north of Lake Byron and the resignation of county highway employee Jeremy Polak was accepted. The commission approved advertising and hiring for the open position.
A complaint from a citizen was submitted to the commission for compensation for a rock chip, which reportedly damaged a windshield.
The commission cited precedence set by the commission that proof in some way would need to be provided for compensation for windshield damage.
Post-election audit procedures were discussed and the results were acknowledged by the commission.
A plat near Yale was approved.
The next county commission meeting will be held Tuesday, July 9.
