House candidate speaks in Huron

Posted

HURON — Democratic U.S. House candidate Sheryl Johnson from Sioux Falls was the featured speaker at this month’s Democratic forum.

Also speaking at the forum were Shane Merrill, chair of the S.D. Democratic Party and Dan Ahlers, executive director of the SDDP.

Johnson shared that she is a mother of four daughters and was a Navy wife for many years. She now lives in Sioux Falls with her husband and said she decided to run for Congress when she realized that the world she lived in and raised her daughters in was fading away.

Johnson said she wants to defend all South Dakotans against the career politicians who are more interested in getting reelected than in doing the will of the people and helping their constituents thrive.

So she is running on her South Dakota Mom platform.

Merrill is a farmer and farming is the backbone of South Dakota’s economy. When farmers do well...everyone does well. His grassroots approach is a voice for all farmers and every South Dakotan.

Ahlers explained to the group that he is building up the foundation of the party and needs more people to join so the voice of the party will be stronger.
