WATERTOWN — The Huron boys’ team finished ninth at the Watoma Invite on Thursday at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.

Brookings, which had three runners in the top 10 won the boys’ title with 43 points, while Rapid City Central was second at 59.

Brandon Valley was third at 65, followed by Watertown at 117 and Harrisburg at 128.

The Tigers finished at 250, which put them 30 points in front of Mitchell in the 10-team event.

Mikah Peters of Brandon Valley posted a top time of 15:33.97 in the boys’ varsity race, while Trevin Lounsbury of Brookings was second at 15:43.23.

TJ Lien was Huron’s top runner with a time of 17:43.15, which put him 31st overall. Teagan Lien was 45th for the Tigers at 18:03.98, while James Weir was 68th at 18:47.64.

Rounding out the lineup for Huron were Alec Pester and Angelo Medina in spots No. 81 and 82, respectively, with times of 19:45.46 and 19:58.29.

Huron did not have a complete team for the varsity girls’ race.

Harrisburg won the girls’ title with 32 points, while Brandon Valley was second at 46. Pierre finished at 103 to edge O’Gorman by two points for the third spot and Aberdeen Central was fifth at 136.

Hannah Genrich of Harrisburg claimed the top spot in the girls’ race with a time of 17:25.08, while teammate Brianna Reilly was just 11 seconds back in second place.

The top runner for Huron was Nora Pester with a time of 21:19.82 to finish 42nd.

Josie Vlieger was 52nd for the Tigers at 21:52.55, while Lily Swanson was 57th at 22:05.38 and Hannah Schoenfelder was 66th at 23:12.44.

The Huron cross country teams are now off until hosting the Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet on Oct. 12 at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
