HURON — The James Valley Christian Vikings, ranked second in Boys’ Class A soccer, fell to the Mitchell Kernels in the final regular season game of the year 5-1 at JVC on Thursday.
Mitchell was on the board quick, scoring with three minutes gone on a long free kick.
The Vikings responded quickly, as Isaac Fast put a goal in the back of the net at the 12-minute mark, assisted by Keeghann Hood.
The Kernels kept pushing on offense, scoring two more before the end of the first half and tacking on two more in the second half.
Jonah Niederbaumer had 13 saves in goal for the Vikings, who finish the regular season 10-4.
The Viking junior varsity team moved to 6-1 on the year with a 1-0 win.
Kasen Ober scored the lone goal of the match and Jayven VanScharrell worked between the pipes in goal.
James Valley will begin postseason play on Tuesday.
