CHAMBERLAIN — With eight placewinners, including an individual champion, the Huron wrestling team finished third in the River City Rumble held Saturday.
Milbank earned the top spot with 153 points, while Chamberlain was second at 150. The Tigers finished at 133, while O’Gorman was fourth at 127.5 and Belle Fourche was fifth at 124.
Moses Gross won the championship for Huron at 145 pounds. He used a pair of pins to reach the finals and then recorded a 19-6 major decision against Brayden Christensen of Milbank in the title match to improve to 25-2.
Cole Ochsner also reached the title match for the Tigers at 170. After a pair of pins, he faced undefeated Barrett Schneck of Milbank for the championship and came up on the short end of a 15-11 decision to finish second.
Brady Meyer at 120, Aiden Zavesky at 132, Shar Ler Moo Ser at 160 and Bryan Ramirez at 285 were all third for Huron. Colt Dunkelberger at 152 and Lah Doh Soe at 138 were fourth.
The Huron girls finished second in the 10-team event.
Belle Fourche claimed the girls’ title with 62 points, while the Tigers were second at 59.
Ehler Klay recorded three pins to claim the top spot for Huron at 132.
Htee Htoo at 126, Kaitlyn Florey at 170 and Anyka Perez at 190 were second for Huron.
The Tigers will be at the Hub City Invitational on Saturday in Aberdeen.
