Peaceful Pines expands senior living options in community

Posted

HURON — This coming Tuesday, the community of Huron will have the opportunity to see what many in town already have - Huron has another excellent option for long-term senior care in the city.

The most recent population data shows that Huron has an overall population of 14,737, with 2,691 (or roughly 18%) of the population classified as seniors.

With one-fifth of the town’s population reaching ages where additional living assistance could be needed, Peaceful Pines provides another option for those seeking living options in their senior years.

The expansive facility, located at 1714 Ohio Ave. NW, has three living options - independent living, assisted living, and memory care.

Residents within the independent living wing will enjoy an apartment with a spacious kitchen and living room area as well as in-unit laundry. There are one-bedroom, one-bathroom and two-bedroom, two-bathroom units available in the independent living wing.

Assisted living has on-site nursing staff on the wing 24 hours per day. Laundry and housekeeping is provided with one- or two-bedroom units available on the wing.

The memory care unit is a specialty area for those with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. The entire unit is secured, which allows residents the freedom to explore the unit at their leisure. The CarePredit system utilized by Peaceful Pines allows for tracking of all residents, and it can sense a fall as well. The memory unit is staffed 24 hours per day and has medication management included as well.

All residents at Peaceful Pines are able to enjoy the theater room with comfortable lounge seating, a fitness area, a dining area with plenty of natural sunlight, and a courtyard to relax and visit with fellow residents or visitors.

Many of the units are already claimed and residents began moving into the facility in early September. With the first residents of the memory care unit moving in and an activities director coming on staff, the community continues to grow and develop.

Tuesday, Oct. 15 from 3-6 p.m. will be an open house at Peaceful Pines, with remarks and a ribbon-cutting ceremony beginning at 4:15 p.m. The public is invited for tours, refreshments, and door prizes.
