Mitchell JV quiets the bats of Huron JV

HURON The Huron Tigers junior varsity team dropped a pair of games Tuesday against the Mitchell Kernels at Klock Field by scores of 5-0 and 9-0.

In the first game, shaky defense led to multiple runs for the Kernels in the third and fourth inning, and the Huron bats couldnt string together hits during the game, falling 5-0.

Tyler Christensen and Brennen Penne combined for the shutout for Mitchell, combining to allow just two hits and four walks while striking out 12 Tiger hitters.

Jeremy Hofer took the hill to open the game for Huron, tossing five innings, allowing five runs on six hits and four walks, striking out 10 Mitchell hitters. Nolan Stahly closed out the game with a scoreless inning, allowing one walk and striking out one.

Tommie Martin provided a large amount of the Tiger offense from the leadoff spot, getting on base all three times he came to the plate with a double, single, and a walk. He also had a pair of steals.

In the nightcap, Mitchell pitchers Lincoln Bottum and Quinton Wilson allows two hits and five welks while striking out five Tigers in a 9-0 shutout.

Oakley Anderston went six innings, allowing nine runs, though just four of them earned as the Tigers made eight errors, on eight hits and three walks, striking out five. Parker Bischoff pitched a scoreless seventh, allowing a hit and a walk, striking out one.

Gabe Waldner collected the two Tigers hits. Cooper Bischoff added a stolen base.

The Tigers JV team is playing in a tournament today and Saturday in Sioux Falls.
