Kingsbury County wrestlers capture title

VOLGA Kingsbury County claimed eight individual titles en route to winning the championship at the Cossack Avalanche Tournament on Saturday.

The Knights amassed 217.5 points to secure the top spot, while Groton Area was second at 209.5.

Rounding out the top five in the 13-team event were Aberdeen Central junior varsity at 140.5, Sioux Valley at 122 and Chamberlain JV at 92.

Winning individual championships for Kingsbury County were Chase Henriksen at 113 pounds, Rogan Albrecht at 126, Cody Zell at 132, Gannon Gilligan at 138, Greyson Nielson at 144, Blake Jennings at 150, Kaleb Johnson at 165 and Marshall Holz at 190.

Lane Albrecht was second for the Knights at 132, while Karsten Lerwick was third at 126, Donovan Sandven was third at 157 and Sutton Murphy was fourth at 150.

Area teams compete in Titan Invite
PLANKINTON With three individual champions, Redfield finished third at the Titan Invitational on Saturday.

Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes won the team title with 256.5 points, while Mt. Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney was second at 162.

Redfield was third in the 18-team event at 123.5, while McCook Central/Montrose was fourth at 120 and Stanley County was fifth at 108.

Huron finished seventh at 85.5 and Sunshine Bible Academy was 17th at 23.

Claiming individual titles for Redfield were Maddon Odland at 113 pounds, Conner Zens at 144 and Camden Murray at 215.

Also placing for the Pheadson were Collin Dean at 165, who was second, and Kasey Hermann at 132, who was fourth.

Carter Nelson was the highest finisher for Huron, taking second at 113. Brady Meyer at 132 and Ryan Florey at 165 were third.

Teagan Lien was fourth for the Tigers at 144, while Alec Pester at 120 and Lucas Chapparo at 190 were fifth. Crayton Siedschlag at 138 and Angelo Medina at 150 were sixth.

Jimmy Burma finished second for Sunshine Bible Academy at 215.

Bandits tie for third in Hot Springs
HOT SPRINGS Miller/Highmore-Harrold finished in a three-way tie for third during the Holiday Extravaganza on Saturday.

Philip/Kadoka Area/Wall won the championship in the 21-team event with 195 points, while Sturgis was second at 180.5.

Sharing the third spot with the Bandits, who had 135, where Custer and Lingle-Ft. Laramie/Southeast.

Claiming individual championships for Miller/Highmore-Harrold were Talon Ping at 126 pounds and Jordan Schafer at 138.

Chase Hurd was second for the Bandits at 132, while Jaymin VanDerWerff at 120, Kia McCauley at 132 and Sam Crago at 138 were all third. Will Hosman was fourth at 106 and JD Chavez was fifth at 126.

Huron girls place two in Madison
MADISON The Huron girls wrestling team finished 10th in the 25-team Madison Invitational on Saturday.

Chalie Sah was third for Huron at 107 pounds, while Reva McGaugh was fifth at 114.
