O’Gorman sweeps Tigers

HURON The OGorman Knights pulled off a doubleheader sweep from the Huron Tigers varsity in a pair of games with plenty of rain involved Saturday at Memorial Ballpark.

The Tigers and Knights took a 1-1 game into the final inning, but a nine-run outburst for OGorman led to a 10-1 victory for the visitors.

Jack Pedersen of Huron and Jackson Bjorkman of OGorman went toe-to-toe on the mound. Bjorkman finished with the complete-game victory, allowing one run on three hits and two walks, striking out nine.

Pedersen was nearly as good for Huron, going five innings before being pulled without recording any outs in the sixth inning. He allowed one run on one hit and three walks, striking out three. Oakley Anderson came in relief and tossed two innings, allowing nine runs, all of which were unearned, on four hits and three walks.

The Huron offense only had five baserunners on the day, and no Tiger reached base twice.

Another big inning doomed the Tigers in the second game, as OGorman put up eight runs in the fourth inning and pulled off an 11-4 win.

Brady Feenstra got the start on the mound for Huron, going 3 1/3 innings, allowing nine runs, four earned, on six hits and five walks while striking out two.
Logan Leyendecker finished out the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk, striking out two.

Pedersen had a double and a pair of walks to lead the Tiger offense while Bubba Peterson had a double and a walk.

The Tigers are back in action today at Pierre.

JV splits with OGorman
HURON – The Huron Tiger junior varsity baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday with the OGorman Knights at Klock Field.

The Knights took over the lead in the fourth inning of the opening game and tacked on a pair of runs in the final inning to come away with a 5-2 victory.

Nolan Stahly threw a complete game, allowing five runs, two of them earned, on five hits and three walks, striking out four.

The Huron offense managed just one hit in the game. Cooper Bischoff had a stolen base.

In the nightcap, the Tigers walked off with a victory in a rain-soaked game, 3-2.

Parker Bischoff went the distance, throwing four innings, allowing two runs on one hit and six walks, striking out five.

Cooper Bischoff had a pair of singles and Oakley Anderson had a pair of walks for Huron. Each also added a stolen base.

Jackson Ford had a single and a walk.

Huron JV, 6-2, hosts Jefferson on Saturday beginning at noon.
