HSD Foundation awards inaugural scholarships

In a milestone moment for local education, the Huron School District Foundation has awarded its first-ever round of scholarships to graduating seniors from Huron High School who are pursuing post-secondary education. A total of 18 students were each awarded a $750 scholarship, marking a promising start to what the foundation hopes will be a longstanding tradition of support for future graduates.

The scholarships come from two generous sources. The Huron High School Class of 1967 funded eight $750 scholarships, a tribute to their legacy and a gift to the next generation. The Huron School District Foundation itself awarded 10 additional $750 scholarships through its general scholarship fund.

The recipients of the Class of 1967 Scholarships are:
Micah Larson
Kenna Dickson
Orin McDermaid
Reese Stephens
Laurelis Feliz Medina
Cashton Goldammer
Green Ta Bah
Thackery Hansen

The recipients of the HSD Foundation Scholarships are:
Angelo Medina
Zaniyah Lanier
Kaisha King Eagle Star
Alexis Stevens
Kirsten DeGeest
Damon Schmidt
Deysi Perez
Paw Bor Wah
Bryli Hickey
Blut Kue Ler

These scholarships represent more than just financial support they are a vote of confidence in our students futures, said Marianne Trandall, Huron School District Foundation Executive Director. We are proud to recognize these students for their achievements and are excited to see where their educational journeys take them.

The scholarships are intended to help offset the rising costs of post-high school education, whether students are attending college, vocational school, or other career training programs. Both the HSD Foundation and the Class of 1967 emphasized their hope that the awards encourage continued academic and personal growth.

The Huron School District Foundation plans to expand its scholarship offerings in the coming years, with the goal of supporting even more students as they transition into the next phase of their lives.
