C/WL’s Roehrich leads at Class B girls’ tournament

WATERTOWN Defending Class B champion Brynn Roehrich of Clark/Willow Lake opened the 2025 Class B State Girls Golf Tournament win an even-par 72 on Monday at Prairie Winds Golf Course.

Roehrich holds a one stroke lead of past state champ Jayce Pugh of Miller after the first 18 holes of the 36-hole event.

Jadyn McDonald of Chester, who was third behind Roehrich and Pugh a year ago, sits third after the opening day with a 74.

The scores drop off a bit after the first three golfers, as Isabella McNaughton of St. Marys holds the fourth spot with an 81 and Claire Berg of Baltic is fifth with an 83.

St. Mary s has a team total of 257, which provides it with a 1-point lead over Miller in the standings after the first round. Chester, which is the defending Class B girls champion, is third with a 273, while Philip is fourth at 282 and Clark/Willow Lake is fifth at 288.

Helping Miller make a push for the team title is Kaihlyn Anderberg, who is tied for ninth after the opening round with an 88. Sydney Asmus shot a 97 for the Rustlers, while Taylor Brueggeman ohad a 108.

Olivia Knox of Doland and Harper Anderson of De Smet are part of a three-way tie for 22nd with scores of 93, Brookie Jennings of De Smet and Faith Roehrich of Clark/Willow Lake had scores of 94 and 95, respectively.

Other area golfers in the field are Taylor Braun of Wessington Springs (97); Belle Niederbaumer of James Valley Christian (107); Baylar Lamb of Clark/Willow Laket (123) and Tatiana Roberts of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (128).

The final 18 holes of the tournament will be played today.

Aberdeen Central holds lead at Class AA tourney
SIOUX FALLS With three of the top six golfers in the tournament, Aberdeen Central leads after the opening day of the Class AA State Girls Golf Tournament, which was held Monday at Prairie Green Golf Course.

The Golden Eagles shot a 317 during the first 18 holes of the 36-hole event and leads Mitchell by 10 strokes. Rapid City Stevens is third at 342, followed by OGorman at 353 and Sioux Falls Lincoln at 358.

Olivia Braun of Aberdeen Central was the only player to finish under par in the opening round. She carded a 71, which is 1-under par, and leads the individual standings by six strokes.

Mitchell teammates Maddie Childs and Anna Eliason, along with Emma Dohrer of Aberdeen Central, share the second spot with scores of 77.

Alison Kennedy of Spearfish rounds out the top five with a 79, while Kyley Wirebaugh of Aberdeen Central is sixth with an 80.

Taylor Sorben was the top of the two Huron golfers in the tournament. She shot a 95 on Monday, which put her into a tie for spot No. 43 in the 72-golfer field.

Olivia Purintun shot a 113 during the opening round for the Tigers.

The final 18 holes of the tournament will be played today, starting at 8 a.m.

Vermillion leads at Class A tourney
MADISON Vermillion holds a one shot lead over Sioux Falls Christian and St. Thomas More after the opening round of Class A State Girls Golf Tournament on Monday at the Madison Golf and County Club.

The Tanagers finished the first 18 holes of play with 344, Sioux Falls Christian and St.Thomas More share the seconds spot with scores of 345.

Aberdeen Roncalli is fourth at 348, while Madison rounds out the top five with 368.

Claire Crawford of Aberdeen Roncalli carries the lead into the second round after shooting a 76 on Monday.

Tori Peterson of Sioux Falls Christian is second with an 80, while Ari Jacobs of West Central, Rylan Horning of St. Thomas More and Tayor Reuvers of Vermillion share the third spot with scores of 81.

Ronnie Wilharm of Vermillion is tied for seventh with an 84, while teammates Kaitlin Tracy shares the 12th spot with an 87 and Georgia Johnson is tied for 24th at 92.

Addisyn Evans of Redfield opened the state tournament with a 115, which gives her a share of the 67th spot.

The final round of the Class A State Tournament will be held today, beginning at 8 a.m.
