HURON Aberdeen Central won the boys title and Brandon Valley won the girls title during the Clyde Cotton Invitational on Saturday at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
Aberdeen Central had four runners in the top 15 to secure the boys title with 52 points. Brandon Valley was second at 63, followed by Philip at 114.
Rounding out the top five were Brookings at 137 and Custer at 145.
James Valley Christian was 11th in the final boys standings at 243.
Carson Urlacher of Aberdeen Central won the varsity boys race in 16:04.46, while Dane Stark of Watertown was second at 16:07.36. Brandon Valley teammates Asher Selness and Ethan Kyte were third and fourth, respectively, with times of 16:16.42 and 16:17.28. Peyton Tetzlaff of West Central was fifth at 16:19.28.
Kaden Ober of JVC was 18th at 17:13.81, while teammate Kolby VanDerWerff was 36th at 17:51.36.
Case Carlson of Iroquois/Lake Preston was 67th at 18:49.37, while Levi Crandall of JVC was 73rd at 19:04.92 and Keegan Loewen was 83rd for the Vikings at 19:28.16.
Hurons top runner was James Weir with a time of 19:29.04 to claim the 84th spot.
Other area runners were Giddeon Walder of JVC, who finished at 20:19.87, and Antwon Flying Hawk of Huron, who finished at 20:41.
Brandon Valley had four of the top 11 runners to edge Pierre for the varsity girls title.
The Lynx finished at 70, while Pierre had 79.
Tea Area was third at 91, followed by West Central at 102 and Brookings at 139.
Chamberlain freshman Grace Phillips won the girls varsity race in 18:48.43, while Tea Area senior Jaycie Babb was second at 18:59.18.
Rounding out the top five were Addison Scholten of Brandon Valley at 19:11.77; Emery Larson of Pierre at 19:19.05; and Emily Curran of Brandon Valley at 19:21.06.
Lily Meyer of Huron was 31st at 21:23.54, while teammate Josie Vlieger was 40th at 21:52.41.
Hadasah Olson of JVC was 34th at 21:30.38.
Nora Pester was 59th for the Tigers at 22:25.94, while Lily Swanson was 73rd at 23:09.53.
Other area runners in the race were Micaiah Brantner of JVC at 23:29.31; Rylin Wipf of JVC at 24:04.97; Alexis Roesler of Wessington Springs at 24:15.58; Masynn Mebius of Wessington Springs at 25:04.33; and Ella Kolousek of Wessington Springs at 25:36.22.
