Huron Tigers attended the Northern SD Qualifying tournament in Sioux Falls. The team took 10 students to the competition, where they had the opportunity to qualify for the NSDA National Tournament in Richmond, VA, in June.
Representing the Tigers in International extemp were James Wheeler and Michelle Le, in Informative speech were Laycee Dorn and Mylie Byrd, in Dramatic interp were Gracie Warren, Izzy Schafer, and Emmersyn McGillvrey, in Duo interp were Sopie Mehling and Mara Pell, in Public Forum were Michelle Le and Aubrey Zaw, and in Lincoln Douglas debate was Gracie Warren.
Students who placed for the Tigers were Emmersyn McGillvrey – 3rd in Dramatic interp, and she is 1st alternate to the National tournament in Richmond, VA in June, Izzy Schafer placed6th in Dramatic, Sophie Mehling and Mara Pell placed 6th in Duo, and Michelle Le placed 8th in International extemp.
The Tiger Interp team is done with their season, but the Debate and Speech competitors will compete at the SDHSAA State Debate tournament on March 6 and 7 in Aberdeen, followed by NSDA Big Question and Congress on March 13 in Brandon Valley.
