Luella Longcor, 100

HURON –– Luella E. Longcor, age 100, of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Avantara in Huron. Her memo,rial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, March 28, at Welter Funeral Home. Visitation, with her family present, will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery will be at a later date.

Luella E. Longcor, was born on February 8, 1926, in Alpena to parents William and Rose (Lehr) Daleske. She grew up in Alpena, graduating in 1943 from Alpena High School. She then attended Northwest College of Commerce. Luella’s first job was at Standard Oil Company in Huron.

Luella married Arlo Longcor on March 3, 1946, in Huron. They welcomed two daughters, Connie and Linda. The young family farmed in Virgil for 16 years before moving into Virgil for 12 years and then to Huron. Luella started her career with the Beadle County ASCS office in February 1959. She retired on January 1, 1987. She didn’t stay retired long as she went to work for Rainbow Flower Shop doing bookkeeping.

Luella loved to bowl and follow her grandchildren’s activities, especially basketball. She also found time to volunteer at HRMC Auxiliary, Huron Senior Center, and for 32 years at the Federal Credit Union.

She is survived by her daughters, Connie (Ron) Muth of Wolsey and Linda Kopfmann of Alpena; six grandchildren, Andi (Arlen) Ferguson, Rhonda (Mike) Hasart, Heather (Brad) Kopecky, Chad (Crystal) Kopfmann, Jennifer (Wes) Anderson, and Jill (Scott) Larson; 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Geneva Plate of Huron; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arlo in 2016; son-in-law, Ronny Kopfmann; two great-grandchildren, Kaiti LaVoy and Mackenzie Kopecky; sister Lois and brother-in-law Roger Aye; brother-in-law, Lloyd Plate; and great grandson-in-law, Ryan Ryckman.
