SIOUX FALLS — Huron had a pair of placewinners after the opening two days of the Class AA State Track and Field Meet on Tuesday at Howard Wood Field.
Anderson Porisch turned in a personal best throw of 153 feet, 6 inches to finish fifth for the Tigers in the boys’ discus.
Isabelle Kremer used a throw of 114-1 to finish seventh for Huron in the girls’ discus event.
With nine of 20 events completed, Brandon Valley held a commanding lead in the Class AA boys’ standings. The Lynx held the top spot with 94 points, while Sioux Falls Lincoln was second at 35.
Rounding out the top five were Harrisburg at 35, Sioux Falls Washington at 29 and Pierre at 24.
The race for the Class AA girls’ title is much closer. Harrisburg holds the top spot with 62 points, while Spearfish is second at 53.5.
Rapid City Stevens is third at 45, followed by Watertown at 27.5 and Sioux Falls Lincoln at 27.
The final day of competition in the Class AA State Meet is today, beginning at 9 a.m.
