Highmore-Harrold 62, JVC 32
HURON — The Highmore-Harrold Pirates got 19 points from Rebecca Buchholz and 15 from Halle Kroeplin as the Pirates defeated the James Valley Christian Lady Vikings 62-32 in 281 Conference girls’ basketball Tuesday night at the JVC gym.
Rebekah Williams led the Lady Vikings with 10 points and also had a team-high six rebounds. JVC fell behind early and were never able to recover in the game.
Brianna Beckler had six rebounds for Highmore-Harrold, which improves to 2-0 on the season. JVC, which falls to 1-1 with the loss, shot 1-16 from the free throw line in the game.
The Pirates host Potter County on Thursday, while the Lady Vikings travel to Sunshine Bible Academy on Friday.

De Smet 66, Wolsey-Wessington 25
WOLSEY — De Smet, which is the fourth-ranked team in the Class B girls’ basketball poll, earned its second win in as many outings Monday with a 66-25 victory against Wolsey-Wessington in a matchup of Region 3B teams.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out early, connecting on five of their eight 3-pointers in the game during the opening quarter to build a 23-8 advantage. De Smet led 36-18 at the half before outscoring the Lady Warbirds 30-7 during the final 16 minutes of play.
Autumn Wilkinson converted on four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 20 points for the Lady Bulldogs (2-0). Rynn Osthus and Kristen Poppen also reached double figures with 17 and 11 points, respectively, while Raegan Burke added nine points.
De Smet also had a 39-25 advantage on the boards, with Poppen grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.
Wolsey-Wessington, which is now 0-2, was led by Raquel Nelson with 11 points off the bench. Chantel Haider and Lizzi Brandt had five and four points, respectively.

Nelson also had 11 rebounds for the Lady Warbirds.
De Smet hosts Arlington on Thursday, while Wolsey-Wessington is off until Dec. 21, when it hosts Faulkton Area.

Miller 67, Potter County 46
MILLER — All-State quarterback Karst Hunter showed he could get it done on the hardwood as well Tuesday night, notching a double-double of 27 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Miller Rustlers to a 67-46 win over the Potter County Battlers in boys’ basketball action.
Miller jumped out to an early lead and had a 20-point cushion at the half as the Rustlers evened their record at 1-1 on the season.
Hunter was joined in double figures by Steven Fernholz with 19 points, while Hunter Russell and Caleb DeBoer each snagged nine rebounds.
Potter County, which falls to 1-1 with the loss, was led by Cole Nafziger’s 13 points.
Miller returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Winner to face the Warriors.

Aberdeen Christian 68, JVC 65
HURON — The Aberdeen Christian Knights fought hard for a close 68-65 win against the James Valley Christian Vikings on Saturday.
Leading Aberdeen Christian was Jackson Becker with 24 points and Andrew Rohrbach with 15 points.
The Vikings were led by Michael Waldner with 24 points.  Ryan Wager added 22 points and Darrian Hood had  11 points.
JVC will face Sunshine Bible Academy in Miller on Friday in a 281 Conference matchup.
