Hanson 48. Colman-Egan 18
HURON — The Hanson Beaverettes ran their winning streak to 11 straight Tuesday afternoon, downing the Colman-Egan Hawks 48-18 to open Region 4B girls’ tournament action at Huron Arena.
Megan Guericke scored 12 points while both Heather Kayser and Jada Campbell added 10 for the Beaverettes, who push their season record to 18-3 with the win. Brooke Slaba, Brooke Weber and Kayser each claimed eight rebounds.
Madison Voelker scored seven points and had a game-high seven rebounds for the Hawks, who see their season end with a record of 7-14.
Hanson will play Sanborn Central-Woonsocket on Thursday at Huron Arena, for a ticket to the next week’s Class “B” Sweet Sixteen.

Sanborn Central-Woonsocket 47, Elkton-Lake Benton 22
HURON — The Sanborn Central-Woonsocket Blackhawks took their first step toward a third straight Class “B” State girls’ basketball tournament Tuesday, clamping down on the defensive end for a dominant 47-22 win over the Elkton-Lake Benton Lady Elks in Region 4B action at Huron Arena.
The Blackhawks jumped out to a 14-7 lead after one quarter and never let Elkton-Lake Benton get back in the game, holding the Lady Elks to 15 percent shooting to post the win.
Tristan Ziebart was the lone Sanborn Central-Woonsocket player to dent double figures - with 11 points - as nine Blackhawks got in the scoring columns in a balanced effort. Megan Poyer had 12 rebounds and Abby Doering snagged nine for the Blackhawks as well.
Samantha Schindler scored seven points and had seven rebounds for the Lady Elks, who see their season end with a record of 12-9.
SC-W, which improves to 13-8 with the win, will face top-seeded Hanson at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, for a trip to the “Sweet 16” tournament play-in game.
