Spader wins discus title for De Smet

RAPID CITY — In the first day of Class “B” boys’ State Track and Field Meet action, De Smet’s Koby Spader claimed first place in the boys’ discus throw at a distance of 154-11, while also taking third place for the Bulldogs in the shot put event, with a 50-06.50 throw.
Darrian Hood of James Valley Christian claimed second place in the finals of the triple jump event with a distance of 43-2.75, while in the boys’ long jump finals, Hood took seventh place with a 20-7.50 leap.
Jace Burma of Sunshine Bible Academy took second place in the 800 meter run at a time of 2:01.58 seconds, while in fourth place was Joshua Wieting of James Valley after a 2:03.24 run.
In the 400 meter relays preliminary round, Clark-Willow Lake qualified to move up in the semi finals after taking sixth place at a time of 45.56.

Clark-Willow Lake finished the 800 relays event with a time of 1:34.54 seconds, to take sixth place and move up in the competition.
Sunshine Bible finished in third during the preliminary round of the 1,600 meter relay, with a time of 3:36.99, followed by James Valley Christian with a 3:35.68 run to take sixth place as both teams qualified to move on to the next round.  
In the preliminary round of the 1,600 meter sprint medleys event, James Valley Christian qualified to move up in the competition after finishing in third place at a time of 3:49.07, while Sunshine Bible Academy finished in 3:49.73 to take fifth place.
James Valley Christian escaped with second place in the 3,200 meter relays with an 8:21.55 running time. In third place, the Sunshine Bible Academy boys’ team ran for 8:26.15, while the De Smet Bulldogs took eighth place in the 3,200 relays with a running time of 8:42.99.
Other area finishers include Clark-Willow Lake’s Bradyn Rusher, who  qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash event, placing eighth with a time of 11.63. James Valley Christian’s Daniel Ayoroa finished eighth in the 3,200-meter run at 10:41.90 seconds.
In girls’ track and field action, Wolsey-Wessington’s Taylor Sprecher took fourth place in the discus throw with a distance of 117-10.
The preliminary round of the 400-meter event, included Shariah Brockel of Sunshine Bible, who finished seventh after a 1:02.65 second dash, while Sanborn Central-Woonsocket’s Caycee Guinn followed in eighth with 1:03.10 seconds to move forward to the next round.
In the 1,600-meter sprint medley event, Wolsey-Wessington qualified for the semi finals with an eighth-place finish and a time of 4:39.56 seconds.
