Huron Middle School volleyball faces Watertown and Pierre

HURON — Huron’s seventh-grade volleyball team won one of three matches Thursday against the Watertown Arrows at Huron Middle School.

Watertown took the A match 18-25, 25-22, 15-11.

Lylli Hofer led the Tigers with two kills on 5 of 8 hitting. Wendy Hae had two aces on 10 of 10 serving while Sofialin Lian scored three aces on 7 of 10 serving.

The Huron B squad scored a 25-22, 19-25, 15-12 victory.

Makenna Porisch was 11 of 11 serving with five aces and Mercy Htoo had five aces on 11 of 12 serving. Adalyn Cunard had a pair of aces on 3 of 4 serving and Bricia Miller went 7 of 10 serving with two aces.

The Tigers C team lost 25-13 and 25-14.

Grace Htoo was 7 of 9 serving with a pair of aces and Adriana Glanzer was 5 of 6 serving.

The Tigers are on the road Tuesday against Mitchell.

The Huron seventh-grade volleyball teams went 1-2 against Pierre on Monday.

The lone win for the Tigers came in the A-match, where they used set scores of 17-25, 25-22 and 18-16 to earn the vicotry.

Lylli Hofer was 13 of 14 attacking with three kills for Huron.

Alyssa Urena was 11 of 14 with three kills and Arianna Janes was 8 of 9 with three kills.

Janes also went 14 of 15 serving with five aces, while Wendy Hae was 13 of 14 with an ace. Hofer was perfect on seven serves with an ace, while Sofialin Lian also had an ace and Urena was perfect on nine serves.

Pierre used set scores of 25-21, 20-25 and 15-12 to win the B-match.

Hae was 10 of 12 serving with four aces for Huron, while Bricia Miller had four aces on 10 of 13 serving. Tiana Parker converted on 7 of 11 serves with three aces, while Amari Greene and Taelyn Larson each had an ace.

Maddie McGaugh and Mercy Htoo each had a kill.

Pierre swept Huron 25-11 and 25-21 in the C-match.

Parker led the Tigers with 8 of 9 serving and a pair of aces.

Eighth grade
HURON — Watertown swept three matches against the Huron eighth-grade volleyball team on Thursday.

The Arrows won the A-match with set scores of 25-17, 20-25 and 15-12.

Arian Pfitzer had six kills on 18 of 20 hitting for Huron, while Jayla Schley was 13 of 18 with four kills and Ramsey Rozell was 5 of 5 with 2 kills.

Zemi Severence was 13 of 14 serving for the Tigers, while Rozell was 10 of 10 with an ace, Schley was 9 of 11 with an ace and Lana Sharry was 4 of 6 with an ace. Rozell also had 10 assists and a block, while Cora Wilk, Schley and Pfitzer each had a block.

Watertown also needed three sets to get past Huron in the B-match. The scores were 23-25, 25-23 and 15-9.

Laney Marshall was 13 of 13 attacking with two kills for the Tigers. Severence had a pair of kills on 9 of 10 spikes.

Jesse Mattke tallied three aces on 11 of 12 serving for Huron, while Sharry was 6 of 9 with two aces and Severence was 6 of 8 with an ace and had three assists.

The Arrows used set scores of 25-7 and 25-10 to sweep the Huron C-team.

No statistics were available from the C-match.

Huron’s eighth-graders will travel to face Brookings on Tuesday.

On Monday, the Huron eighth-grade volleyball teams swept Pierre on Monday.

Using set scores of 25-19 and 25-8, Huron claimed a 2-0 victory in the A-match.

Ramsey Rozell led the Tigers with five kills on 5 of 5 attacking.

Jayla Schley had three kills on 10 of 10 spikes, while Arian Pfitzer was 7 of 8 hitting with three kills.

Pfitzer also recorded six aces on 14 of 15 serving, while Lana Sharry was 7 of 10 serving with four aces. Rozell, Schley and Talley Hins each had two aces, while Autumn Seidschlag had an ace.

Rozell tallied 10 assists, while Schley and Seidschlag each had a block.

Huron escaped with a 2-1 win in the B-match using set scores of 25-16, 27-29 and 15-10.

Zemi Severence tallied 12 aces on 17 of 18 serving for the Tigers, while Andrea Estrada had seven aces on 13 of 13 serving. Sharry was 7 of 10 serving with three aces and Laney Marshall was 2 of 4 serving with a pair of aces.

Severence and Marshall each had three kills for Huron, while Sharry and Nevaeh Garcia each had a kill. Severence also finished with a team-high six assists.

The Tigers won the C-match with scores of 25-12 and 25-23.

Garcia recorded 12 aces on 14 of 16 serving for Huron. Olivilla Mendanca had three aces on 5 0f 7 serving and Eh Hter Say had 2 aces on 7 of 9 serves.
