AA teams close regular season at Loeker Invite

HURON — The Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles took the top three places for individual runners in boys’ varsity to claim the team title with 17 points at the Roger Loecker Cross Country Invitational, held Thursday at the Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron.
Yankton edged out Harrisburg by one point 65-66, for second place.
Aberdeen Central also won the team title in the girls’ varsity race with a total of 41 points,  Harrisburg took second with 59, while in third Brookings held 73 points.
In first place for the boys’ individual racers was Aberdeen Central’s Aaron Ryan at a time of 16:41.45, Jared Locker held second place and in third was Daniel Street. Huron’s Will Radke finished 38th at 19:17.22.
Brookings held the top two positions for individual runners with Ellie Abraham in first at 18:57.57, approximately one minute behind was Ainsey Powers, while in third place was Aberdeen Central’s Melanie Jacobs.

Huron finished in first for individual runners in both the girls’ and boys’ junior varsity races. Cheech Harman was first for the boys’ at 19:12.98, as Angel Olivo Porcayo took second and Brookings’ Jack Schultz finished third.
Brookings ranked first in team standings at 33 points, second place was held by Aberdeen Central and in third was Pierre T.F. Riggs.
First across in finish line in girls’ JV was Brooklyn Boetel for Huron at 22:24.72, Yankton’s Jillian Eidsness was second, while in third was Jenna York of Brookings. The team title for the girls’ race went to Brookings at 26, Aberdeen Central finished second followed by Yankton.
Other Huron finishers for the boys’ race are Gonzalo Quispe-Laura in 18th place and at 47 was Was Eh Soe.
Huron’s TJ Lien took the top place for the boys’ middle school race at a time of 10:16.12, as Pierre’s Haeden Wheelhouse crossed the finish line ten seconds later, while in third was Watertown’s Ben Peterson. Also finishing for Huron was William Kippling in fourth place. Cameron Cutshaw for eighth, as well as Shawn Messimore, Zayne Wilson, Thomas Martin, Ben Ahlers, Gay Eh Soe and Riley Winegar.
Huron finished second in team standings behind Pierre T.F. Riggs at 36 points, while Aberdeen Central took third.
Aberdeen Central earned the team title in the girls’ middle school race at 31 points, next was Pierre T.F. Riggs and Huron in third with 66.
Anneliese Wells finished first for Aberdeen Central also taking second with Alyssa Roehrich, while in third was Pierre’s Lennix Dupris. Huron’s Tatum Peterson claimed fourth place, while Hannah Schoenfelder was in seventh for the Tigers. Also finishing for Huron was Ellie Puterbaugh, Josie Vlieger, Hannah Ferguson, Sawyer Hennrich, Taryn Cass, Teagan Peterson and Adrian Wiggins.
The State Meet for both boys  and girls in all three classes will begin at noon, Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Broadland Creek Golf Course.
