De Smet finishes second at Lake Preston Tournament

LAKE PRESTON — Arlington used set scores of 25-15 and 25-18 to get past De Smet in the championship match of the Lake Preston Tournament on Saturday.

Arlington opened the event with a 2-0 win against Iroquois/Doland with set scores of 25-7 and 25-15. Then got past Sioux Valley 25-15 and 25-20 in the semifinals.

De Smet defeated Flandreau 26-24 and 25-19 in its opener, before getting past Estelline-Hendricks 26-24 and 25-19 in the semifinals.

Lake Preston got past Iroquois/Doland 25-22 and 25-16 in the consolation semifinals. Waubay-Summit used set scores of 25-18 and 32-30 to get past Iroquois/Doland in the seventh-place match.

Sioux Falls Lutheran 3, Sunshine Bible Academy 1
MILLER - After the Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders won a hard-fought first set Friday, but then the Sioux Falls Lutheran Eagles swept the next three sets for the match victory.

Set scores for the Eagles were 26-27, 25-20, 25-12, and 25-13.

The Eagles move to 4-5 behind strong serving, recording 15 aces as a team. Isabella Stubkjaer was 23 of 23 from the service line with four aces and also had 20 assists setting for Sioux Falls Lutheran.

SBA falls to 2-7 despite a strong showing at the service line from Betra Amare, who went 16 of 17 serving with four aces.

Miller wins Big Dakota Conference Tournament
FORT PIERRE - The Miller Rustlers won four matches to win the Big Dakota Conference Tournament Saturday in Fort Pierre.

The Rustlers opened the tournament defeating Crow Creek by scores of 25-5 and 25-11. Miller was powered to victory behind 11 aces, including three apiece from Ruby Carder and Jaden Werdel.

Miller defeated Stanley County in the second match of the tournament by scores of 25-18 and 25-15. Ally Mullaney led the Rustlers with eight kills while Payton Kilker nailed six service aces in the win.

After dropping the first set, Miller rallied to defeat Winner in three sets 19-25, 25-22, and 25-23. Ally Mullaney led the Rustlers with 12 kills while Tyra Gates set up the Miller attack with 34 assists.

The final match of the day saw Miller sweep Mobridge-Pollock by scores of 25-21 and 25-17. Abbi Blake had eight digs and Jaden Werdel had seven digs to pace the Rustler defense.

Miller (5-6) had Ally Mullaney, Tyra Gates, and Jaden Werdel elected to the all-tournament team.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 3, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 1
RUTLAND - The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks dropped the first set with the Oldham-Ramona/Rutland Lady Raiders Saturday, but came back for a 3-1 victory by scores of 15-25, 25-21, 25-23, and 25-18.

The Blackhawks move to 11-2 behind a big game from Trista White on the attack, tallying 26 kills. White also had 15 digs. Brooke Doering had a strong all-around match with 11 kills, three blocks, and 13 digs.

Teya Moody set up the Blackhawk attack with 36 assists and also recorded four aces from the service line.
