Miller’s Moncur, H-H’s Tvedt off to a strong start in Class B girls’ meet

WATERTOWN — Erin Moncur of Miller and Zoe Tvedt of Highmore-Harrold are poised to earn all-state honors after the opening round of the Class B State Girls’ Golf Meet on Monday at Prairie Winds Golf Club in Watertown.
Moncur used a score of 94 to finish the first 18 holes tied for 12th, while Tvedt had a 99 to share the 24th spot. All-state honors go to the top 25 golfers in the 96-golfer field.
Maddie Palmquist of Howard and Tressa Bull of Burke-South Central shared the top spot after the opening round with scores of 84.
Taylee Indahl of Burke-South Central was third with an 85, while Courtni Frank of Deubrook Area nd Jordan Glanzer of Howard shared the fourth spot with scores of 88.

Maddie Forest of Clark-Willow Lake sat just outside of the top 25 after Monday’s round. She carded a 102 to share the 36th spot.
Savannah Vincent of De Smet shot a 107, while teammate Skylar Maier finished at 108. Abby Rose Miller of James Valley Christian had a 110, while Chloe Munsen of Wessington Springs finished at 129.
Burke-South Central led the team standings with 263. Howard was second at 268, followed by Deubrook Area at 274, Flandrau at 289 and Castlewood at 312.
The final 18 holes of the event will be played today.
