Omaha Nation girls begin title defense in Dakota Oyate Challenge

The Omaha Nation Lady Chiefs swept the Takini Lady Skyhawks, 75-20, Thursday morning in the opening game for the girls’ Dakota Oyate Challenge.
The Lady Chiefs were led by Shailece Porter with 18 points. Nakiati Borea followed with 17, while Karleigh Miller added 10 more.
Alayna St John led the Skyhawks with 12 points, while Autumn Kills Crows added five.

Lower Brule 79, Tiospaye Topa 57
The Lower Brule Lady Sioux scored early, often and continuously Thursday afternoon, derailing the Tiospaye Topa Thunderhawks 79-57 in the opening round of the Dakota Oyate Challenge.
Maleighya Estes led a quartet of Lady Sioux in double figures with 23 points. Molly Jandreau added 14, Bariah LaRoche netted 12 and Arianna Traversie chipped in 10, as Lower Brule moved to 9-3 with the win.
Kobey Iron Wing led the Thunderhawks, now 4-7, with 17 points and Shawnda White Eagle scored 12.

The Marty Lady Braves led the Crazy Horse Lady Chiefs with a 66-40 win in a game on Thursday afternoon.
Appollonia Zephier led the Lady Braves, now 4-8 on the season, with 21 points, while Lainey Honomichl added up another 13 for the team.
The Lady Chiefs now dropped to 2-10 on the season and were led by Deidre Roberts with 20 points, while Sequoia Bettleyoun had 12 points.

The Tiospa Zina Wambdi landed a 59-42 win over the Flandreau Indians, Thursday night at the Dakota Oyate Challenge.
The Wambdi girls now improve to 5-8 on the season and will play at 9 a.m., today, against Omaha Nation.
Aubree Bearsheart and Hailey Shepherd led the Wambdi with 17 points each, while Kylee Deutsch added nine more.
Joanna Falls led the Lady Indians, now dropped to 1-8 on the season, with 20 points, while Diana Makes Him First followed with six.
