Pairings set for 281 Conference Tournaments

HURON — The pairings were announced Monday for the 281 Conference Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball Tournaments, which will begin Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Highmore-Harrold, which is the top seed for the girls’ tournament with a 7-0 record, will host Sunshine Bible Academy (0-6) in the opening round on Friday.

Wolsey-Wessington, which is 5-2 holds the second seed and will host No. 7 Wessington Springs (1-6).

Third-seeded Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (3-5) will host No. 6 Iroquois/Doland (3-4) in Forestburg and fourth-seeded Hitchcock-Tulare (3-2) will host No. 5 James Valley Christian (5-4) in Tulare.

All four opening-round games will begin at 6 p.m.

Wolsey-Wessington holds the top seed for the boys’ tournament with a 5-1 record. The Warbirds will host Lower Brule (5-2), which is replacing No. 8 Sunshine Bible Academy, in the opening round at 1 p.m., on Saturday.

Second-seeded Highmore-Harrold (4-2) will host No. 7 Iroquois/Doland (0-5) on Saturday; while third-seeded Wessington Springs (3-3) hosts No. 6 Hitchcock-Tulare (0-5); and No. 4 Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (1-5) hosts No. 5 James Valley Christian (0-7) in Woonsocket.

All boys’ games on Saturday will begin at 1 p.m.

The second round of the girls’ tournament is slated for Monday at the site of the higher seeds, while the boys’ tournament will continue on Jan. 19 at the site of the higher seeds.

The championship round of the girls’ tournament is slated for Jan. 21 at the site of the higher seed, while the final round of the boys’ tournament will be held Jan. 22 at the site of the higher seed.

The Sunshine Bible Academy boys’ team will return for the second and final rounds.
