HURON — The first four nights of the Wollak Construction Inc. WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series has produced four different winners.
The next two events on the 20-race series are scheduled to be held at Dakota State Fair Speedway. The first is the $5,000-to-win Iverson’s Dakota Challenge at 7 p.m. tonight, while the second will be the $10,000-to-win Challenge Cup XVIII, presented by Prostrollo General Motors, at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Don Shaw of Ham Lake, Minn., is the defending winner of both events at the Huron oval, and is the most recent winner on the 2018 series.
Shaw topped the 27-car field during the $2,000-to-win event held Sunday at Viking Speedway in Alexandria, Minn. Ricky Weiss of Headingley, Manitoba, was second, followed by John Kaanta of Elk Mound, Wis., Pat Doar of New Richmond, Wis., and Steve Laursen of Cumberland, Wis.
Weiss, who is a past winner at DSFS, won the series event on Saturday, which was also held at Viking Speedway and paid $2,000-to-win.
Marshal Fegers of Mound, Wis., tailed Weiss across the line for a runner-up finish on Saturday. Ryan Mikkelson of Alexandria, N.D., was third, followed by Doar and Shawn Meyer of Wahpeton, N.D.
Kaanta, who is the defending series champ, inked a victory during the 3,000-to-win series stop on Friday at I-94 Speedway  in Fergus Falls, Minn.

Darrell Nelson of Hermantown, Minn., was second to Kaanta, while Weiss was third. Rounding out the top five were Doar and Shaw, respectively.
The three winners from the past weekend are joined by Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., who won the series opener on May 5 at Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minn.
After four events Weiss is the series points leader with 322 points. He has finished in the top five in all three events he has participated in.
Kaanta is second in the standings with 308 points, while Shaw is third at 301. Doar holds the fourth spot with 297 points, while Jeff Wildung of Nassau, Minn. Is fifth at 273.
Occupying spots No. 6-10, respectively, are Feggers, Mikkelson, Laursen, Meyer and Cole Schill of Horace, N.D.
Wildung (2007), Fegers (2008) and Kaanta (2014) are past Challenge Cup winners at DSFS.
Other previous Challenge Cup winners expected to be on hand for both of the upcoming events are Kent Arment of Aberdeen (2012) and Scott Ward of Watertown (2015).
Shane Edginton of Winnipeg, Manitoba, is the current leader in the WISSOTA late model national point standing, while Weiss is second. Schill is third, followed by Dustin Strand of East Grand Forks, Minn., while Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg, Manitoba, is fifth.
Three other WISSOTA classes will join the late models for the two events at DSFS.
The modifieds will race for $1,000-to-win during the Iverson’s Dakota Challenge on Thursday, and will be joined by the WISSOTA street stocks.
Competing with the late models on Saturday will be the Midwest modifieds.
