FAULKTON — Pierce Baumberger of Miller won the varsity boys’ race, while the Miller girls’ team finished second at Lakeside Invitational on Wednesday at Lakeside Country Club.

Baumberger had a winning time of 17:59.10 for the Rustlers, while teammate Isaiah Gortmaker was 17th at 20:08.22.

Brooks McPeak of Highmore-Harrold was sixth at 18:59.44, while teammate Jordan Erfman was 19th at 20:25.40.

Sam Welsch of Wessington Springs was 14th at 19:47.38, while Jacksen Carter of Wolsey-Wessington was 23rd at 20:45.26.

North Central won the boys’ title with 17 points. Frederick Area was second at 19, followed by Faulkton Area at 35, Miller at 40 and Highmore-Harrold at 44. Hitchcock-Tulare finished ninth at 108.

With two runners inside the top 20, Miller was second in the final varsity girls’ standings with 28 points.

Potter County won the girls’ title with 13 points. Herreid/Selby Area was third at 34, followed by Wessington Springs at 45 and Mobridge-Pollock at 45. Wolsey-Wessington was sixth at 47.

Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern had a two-minute winning margin in the girls’ varsity race with a time of 19:07.38.

Madeline Nye of Miller was third at 21:11.21, while teammate Gabby Werdel was 18th at 23:26.47.

Autumn Fallis of Highmore-Harrold was fifth at 21:41.12, while Kendal Uttecht of Wolsey-Wessington was ninth at 22:07.16.

Alexis Roesler of Wessington Springs was 12th at 23:03.09, whle Addy Ihnen of Hitchcock-Tulare was 22nd at 24:33.09.
