CLARK — The James Valley Christian boys and the Clark/Willow Lake girls claimed team titles during the Clark Invitational, which was held Thursday at the Clark Municipal Golf Course.
With four of the top eight runners, James Valley Christian finished with 10 points to win the boys’ title. Flandreau was second in the 8-team event with 19 points. Madison was third at 21, followed by Baltic at 55 and Webster Area at 72. Clark/Willow Lake was sixth just a point out of the top 5.
Dylan Gerdes of Madison used a time of 17:13.22 to win the boys’ varsity race.
Dax Frandsen was second for JVC at 17:46.92, while teammate Kaden Ober was third at 19:04.67. Rounding out the top five were Brenton Westberry of Flandreau at 19:35.98 and Tayne Herrmann of JVC at 19:38.22.
Levi Crandall was eighth for JVC at 20:00.72, while Giddeon Waldner was 20th at 20:43.32 and Joel Olson was 33rd at 22:08.85.
Will Hovde was the top runner for Clark/Willow Lake at 20:39.83 to finish 19th. Alex Reil was 36th for the Cyclones at 22:43.27, while Aksel Gjerde was 38th at 22:45.16, Ayden Peterson was 39th at 23:02.07 and Logan Seefeldt was 42nd at 23:30.59.
Clark/Willow Lake finished with 15 points to edge Flandreau by two points for the girls’ team title. James Valley Christian was third at 21, followed by Baltic at 35 and Florence/Henry at 58.
Faith Wiese of Flandreau claimed the top spot in the varsity girls’ race, with a time of 18:59.87. Second place went to Kamryn Nesheim of Clark/Willow Lake at 21:08.06, while Hadasah Olson of JVC was third at 21:32.47.
Rounding out the top five were Kiley Westberry of Flandreau at 22:02.70 and Faith Roehrich of Clark/Willow Lake at 22:06.76.
Emma Bochek was eighth for C/WL at 23:06.04, while teammates Jennifer Bevers and Cadence Bochek were ninth and 10th, respectively, at 23:17.22 and 23:24.55.
Rounding out the lineup for the Cyclones was Hadley Gjerde, who was 19th at 24:40.53.
Daril Frandsen was seventh for JVC at 22:16.39, while teammate Andee Frandsen missed a top 10 finish with a time of 23:32.44.
Other runners for the Lady Vikings were Micaiah Brantner, who was 18th at 24:30.13, and Rylin Wipf, who was 25th at 25:59.01.
