De Smet girls finish third at DVC meet

ARLINGTON — Adalyn Gross was fifth for De Smet in the varsity girls’ race during the Dakota Valley Conference Meet on Wednesday at Lake Region Golf Course.

Gross turned in a time of 22:39.62 to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a third-place finish in the team standings.

Arlington claimed the girls’ team title with eight points, while Dell Rapids St. Mary was second at 19. De Smet was third at 26, followed by Deubrook Area at 46.

Arlington had four of the top six runners in the girls’ race, including Kaelyn Ulschmid, who turned in a winning time of 21:04.66. Elizabeth Vogel of Dell Rapids St. Mary was second at 21:40.62.

Arlington teammates Madalyn Madsen and Emarie Vincent were third and fourth, respectively, with times of 21:46.38 and 21:53.38. Seeley VanOverbeke was sixth for the Cardinals at 22:47.41.

With three runners in the top eight, Estelline/Hendricks won the DVC boys’ title with 12 points. Elkton-Lake Benton was second at 20, followed by Arlington at 22, Dell Rapids St. Mary at 26 and De Smet at 42.

Nate Timm of Elkton-Lake Benton won the boys’ race in 17:41.81, while Cooper Schaefer of Estelline/Hendricks was second at 17:51.47.

De Smet teammates Jordan Botkin and Chase Temme finished in spots No. 13 and 14, respectively, with times of 20:03.91 and 20:28.06. Owen Anderson was 20th for the Bulldogs at 21:19.94, while Gabriel Aughenbaugh was 23rd at 22:02.34.

Nesheim wins NEC girls’ title for Clark/Willow Lake

WEBSTER — Kamryn Nesheim won the girls’ varsity race in 20:29.28 to help Clark/Willow Lake to the girls’ title at the Northeast Conference Meet.
