Eighth grade football earns shutout win

HURON — The Huron eighth-grade football team earned its first win of the season with a 34-0 victory against Mitchell on Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.
Josh Gilbert had three touchdowns for the Tigers, while Carter Porisch added a pair of touchdowns.
Gilbert connected with Alex Mattke on an 18-yard pass, had a 27-yard fumble recovery and a 35-yard interception return. Porisch scored on runs of 33 and two yards.
Gilbert finished the game with 10 carries for 95 yards and was 12 of 17 passing with no interceptions for 127 yards.
Porisch led the rushing attack for Huron with 110 yards on 11 carries and had seven catches of 87 yards.
Defensively, Porisch recorded seven tackles for the Tigers, while Max Roberts and Braden Block had five and four tackles, respectively.
Huron, which is now 1-1, will host Watertown at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.
