CHAMBERLAIN — Senior Pierce Baumberger won the Big Dakota Conference title for Miller on Thursday.

Baumberger turned in a winning time of 17:57 for the Rustlers, who were third in the final team standings.

Philip, which had four runners in the top 10, won the boys’ title with 12 points. Sioux Valley was second at 32, followed by Miller at 42.

Platte-Geddes and Kimball/White Lake finished at 48, but fourth place was awarded to Platte-Geddes on a tiebreaker.

Finishing in the top 10 for Highmore-Harrold was Brooks McPeak, who was eighth at 18:42.

Isaiah Gortmaker was 16th for Miller at 19:50, while teammate Jaymin VanDer Werff was 33rd at 21:06.

Jordan Erfman of Highmore-Harrold was 30th at 20:56.

The top three teams in the girls’ varsity final standings had 21 points.

Sioux Valley earned the title on a tiebreaker, while Chamberlain claimed second with a tiebreaker and Kimball/White Lake was third.

Miller finished seventh in the final girls’ standings.

Maci Licht earned the medalist honors for Sioux Valley with a winning time of 19:47.

Autumn Fallis of Highmore-Harrold was sixth at 21:11, while Madeline Nye of Miller finished just outside the top 10 at 22:05.

Gabby Werdel was 32nd for the Rustlers at 24:21, while Allie Gortmaker was 40th at 26:42 and Quinn Hurd was 42nd at 27:02.

Nesheim wins for Clark/Willow Lake
ABERDEEN — Kameryn Nesheim of Clark/Willow Lake won the girls’ varsity race during the Aberdeen Roncalli Invite on Thursday.

Nesheim turned in a winning time of 21:46.58 to help the Cylcones to a second-place finish in the team standings.

Deuel finished with 12 points, which put them four points ahead of Clark/Willow Lake. Aberdeen Roncalli was third at 33, followed by Great Plains Lutheran at 34 and Florence/Henry at 51.

Faith Roehrich and Cadence Bochek were seventh and eighth, respectively, for the Cylcones with tiems of 23:10.59 and 23:14.04.

Emma Bochek was 10th for Clark/Willow Lake at 23:35.15, while Jennifer Bevers was 13th at 24:33.55 and Hadley Gjerde was 15th at 24:43.55.

Deuel had four of the top six finishers in the varsity boys’ race to claim the team title with eight points.

Great Plains Lutheran was second at 18, while Aberdeen Central was third at 25. Rounding out the top five were Florence/Henry at 50 and Webster Area at 58.

Clark/Willow Lake was seventh at 73, followed by Hitchcock-Tulare at 89.

Will Hovde finished 25th for Clark/Wilow lake at 22:41.70, while Payton Moore led Redfield with a 24:03.60 to put him in spot No. 36.

Ryder Graff of Sisseton won the boys’ varsity race in 19:18.94, while Caden Hourigan of Deuel was second at 19:43.09.
