Huron 16U records sweep against Smittys

ABERDEEN — The Huron 16U Tigers completed a dominating sweep of the Aberdeen Smittys 16U in Aberdeen on Tuesday with a 12-1 victory in the second game of the twinbill.

Each team scored a run in the first inning, but Huron pitcher Oakley Anderson locked it down from that point forward.

Anderson would complete the game, throwing five innings, allowing one run on three hits and a walk, striking out three.

The Huron offense scored in every inning of the game, exploding for six runs in the second inning to take control to take control of the game.

Chase Schuchhardt walked and then the next two Huron hitters struck out. Anderson walked and then Gavin Waldner tripled home Schuchhardt and Anderson.

Elijah Shreeve brought in Waldner on an error then Anderson Porisch singled, with Shreeve advancing to third.

Crayton Siedschlag then reached on an error that scored both Shreeve and Porisch. Zach Scheer advanced Siedschlag to third with a single. A wild pitch scored Siedschlag and moved Scheer to third. Schuchhardt walked in his second plate appearance of the inning and stole second before Tyce Huber struck out to end the inning.

Huron would add single runs in the third and fourth innings before plating three in the fifth to prompt the run-rule victory after Anderson set down the Smittys in the bottom of the fifth for the 12-1 win.

Six Huron hitters reached base multiple times in the game, led by Anderson Porisch who had a triple, single, walk, and was hit by pitch. He also stole two bases.

Scheer had three singles and stole a base. Shreeve had two singles and stole two bases.

Anderson and Schuchhardt each walked twice.

Waldner had a triple while Schuchhardt and Siedschlag each added a steal.

Huron moves to 9-6 on the year and is off until hosting Mitchell on July 2 for a doubleheader at Memorial Ballpark.
