ABERDEEN – The Huron 16U Tigers brought their bats on the road Tuesday, defeating the Aberdeen Smittys 16U team 16-5 in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, batting around in the first inning. Not to be outdone, Smittys sent 11 batters to the plate and scored five runs in the bottom of the inning.

The two teams then put up zeroes until Huron’s Korbin Brock singled to open the top of the fourth inning. Brock would advance to third on a passed ball and Parker Bischoff would walk and then steal second. Elijah Shreeve reached on error, scoring Brock and moving Bischoff to third, and Shreeve and Bischoff then pulled off a double steal to score another run for Huron.

Anderson Porisch walked and Porisch and Shreeve then pulled off a double steal to get to second and third. Carter Porisch was hit by pitch to load the bases, and Zach Sheer lifted a double to left field that scored all three runners, putting the Tigers up 9-5.

Scheer would then score on a wild pitch to make it 10-5 Huron. Brock struck out on his second at-bat of the frame to close out the inning.

The following inning, Bischoff and Gavin Waldner opened the frame with walks before Shreeve drove a single to center field that scored both and led to Shreeve on second on an error on the play. Anderson Porisch then drove another single up the middle and scored Shreeve to make it 13-5.

After a Nolan Stahly walk and Carter Porisch was hit by pitch, the bases were loaded for Scheer. He grounded to the pitcher, and Anderson Porisch scored on the fielder’s choice with Stahly out at second. Chase Schuchhardt then singled to again load the bases.

Bischoff then lined a single to right field that scored two more runs, making it 16-5 Huron. Waldner lined out to end the fifth inning.

Carter Porisch shut down the Smittys in the bottom of the fifth to give Huron the 16-5 run-rule victory.

Crayton Siedschlag opened the game on the mound for Huron, going 2 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks, striking out two. He also hit five Aberdeen hitters with a pitched ball.

Carter Porisch closed out the game in relief, throwing 2 2/3 innings without allowing a run, allowing one hit and three walks, striking out three.

Scheer drove in six runs on the day. Parker Bischoff and Anderson Porisch each had a single, two walks, and two stolen bases.

Waldner walked twice. Stahly and Schuchhardt each had a single and a walk. Carter Porisch was hit by pitch three times and Shreeve stole two bases.

The second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader will be in Friday’s Plainsman.
