YANKTON - The Huron 16U Tigers brought home one victory over the first three games at the Daryl Bernard Tourney in Yankton Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, Huron fell behind 4-0 after the top half of the first inning, before falling to Renner Post 307 16U by the final score of 8-5.

Elijah Shreeve took the mound to lead off for Huron, allowing eight runs, four earned, on eight hits and two walks over four innings, striking out three. Nolan Stahly closed out the game, pitching a scoreless three innings, allowing just one hit.

Jeremy Hofer had a big game for the Tiger offense, smashing two doubles and a single, driving in three of the Tigers’ five runs.

Carter Porisch had a double, a single, and walked.

Chase Schuchhardt had a double and a single while Stahly and Oakley Anderson each had a pair of singles.

Gavin Waldner walked and was hit by pitch. He also stole a pair of bases.

Anderson Porisch went 4-4 at the plate to lead the Huron offense to an 11-7 victory over the Millard Sox Reserve Gold team from Omaha, Neb. in Huron’s first game of Saturday.

Porisch was a home run short of the cycle, with a pair of singles, a double, and a triple while also being hit by pitch and stealing a pair of bases.

Waldner had a double, a single, and a walk out of the leadoff spot while also swiping three of Huron’s 12 stolen bases on the game.

Hofer had a pair of singles. Cooper Bischoff and Schuchhardt each had two walks and were hit by pitch. Bischoff nabbed four stolen bases in the game while Schuchhardt swiped one.

Shreeve and Tyce Huber each added a stolen base.

Huron then faced another team from Omaha, the Millard Sox Reserve Black team, and Hofer pitched a complete game gem, but a pair of errors that led to unearned runs were the difference in a 4-2 loss for Huron.

Hofer tossed seven innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits and four walks while mowing down 13 Millard Sox hitters.

Hofer was also the lone Huron hitter with a pair of hits, smacking a pair of singles. Carter Porisch also reached base twice, on a double and a hit by pitch.

Waldner and Huber each had stolen bases.

Huron (6-6) faced host Yankton to open play Sunday. Results from that game will appear in Tuesday’s paper.
